West Virginia Wildwater Association
2013 Beginner/Novice Clinic

Clinic Dates: June 1, 2013
Registration Deadline: May 25th
Lead Instructor: Tony Daniel
Location: Army Camp, New River (tentative)
Clinic Fee: $20 per student
Class Size: Maximum of 20 WVWA members (minimum of 4)
Class Status: 13 of 20 spots filled

Students will be separated into beginners (with little or no whitewater experience) and novices (with limited Class I and II experience). Clinic participants will work on learning basic paddling strokes, eddy turns, peel-outs, and ferries. Participants will also focus on safety and basic river reading skills.

On Sunday there will be a club trip on the Upper New River. Clinic participants are encouraged to paddle on Sunday to work on their newly learned skills.

You must be a member of WVWA to participate in the clinic.


To register for the clinic if you are not a member:

  • Click here to complete a membership application to join the club. Then follow the instructions to print the form.
  • Print and complete the mail-in Clinic Registration and ACA Waiver forms.
  • Write a check (payable to West Virginia Wildwater Association) for:
    • $40 ($20 for an online-only membership and $20 for the clinic fee)
      -or-
    • $45 ($25 for a regular membership and $20 for the clinic fee)
    (The clinic fee includes the cost of the ACA insurance for this event.)

To register for the clinic if you are a WVWA member:

  • Print and complete the mail-in Clinic Registration and ACA Waiver forms.
  • Write a check (payable to West Virginia Wildwater Association) for $20 for the clinic fee.

You will receive an email once your registration and payment have been received, confirming your place in the class.
